Falcons safety Ricardo Allen will be part of Verizon Super Bowl ad campaign that honors first-responders.
The campaign, titled “The Team that Wouldn’t Be Here,” highlights the stories of 12 NFL stars who experienced a life-changing situation and the first-responders who saved them.
In 2004, Allen's Daytona Beach, Fla., home burned in a grease fire. "I think the incident is a reason that I am who I am. The people who helped us keep me going," Allen says in the ad spot (see video below):
Allen signed a three-year, $19.5 million extension with the Falcons before the 2018 season. Allen suffered a torn Achilles tendon and did not play most of the season.
Super Bowl 53 will be played Feb. 3 in Atlanta.
