Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez, a future Hall of Famer, could play his last game at the Georgia Dome on Sunday. He spoke to the media about his career plans:
Q: How do you keep getting yards after the catch?
A: I've been around for a long time. I compare it to when you watch those old Kung Fu movies and you see the guy with the long beard. The toughest fighter is not usually the young guy, it's the old guy who's been around for a long time. I figure I'm like that. You've seen every coverage. You see every coverage. You know the angle he is going to take. I'm just out there doing my thing.
Q: Did you talk to some other players about going out on top?
A: I've gotten everything that I've ever wanted from this game. The only reason I've been playing the last couple of years is for an opportunity like this. Now, that it's present, I feel some closure coming in.
Q: What do you plan to do in retirement?
A: Probably do some television. Talk about football. Stay in the game a little bit like a lot of retired players do. Any network out there, I'm free next year.
