1. Mark Ingram, Alabama, 5-9, 215: He is considered to have superior vision and balance. He became Alabama's first Heisman Trophy winner in 2009. He was slowed last season after having surgery on his left knee.
2. Mikel Leshoure, Illinois, 5-11, 229: He rushed for 1,697 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was a first-team All-Big Ten pick. He also rushed for more than 100 yards in a school-record nine games.
3. Ryan Williams, Virginia Tech, 5-9, 212: He is a very physical runner. He battled through a hamstring injury last season when he made just five starts and played in 10 games.
4. DeMarco Murray, Oklahoma, 6-foot, 214: He rushed for 1,214 yards and 15 touchdowns last season. He also caught a career-high 71 passes and is a threat in the passing game.
5. Jacquizz Rodgers, Oregon State, 5-6, 198: Despite his lack of size, he was extremely productive in college. He made the All-Pac-10 first team for three straight seasons.
6. Kendall Hunter, Oklahoma State, 5-7, 200: He ran for 1,516 yards and averaged 5.8 yards per carry last season. He was hobbled by an ankle injury in 2009. He rushed for 257 yards and four touchdowns against Washington State last year.
7. Daniel Thomas, Kansas State, 6-0, 229: Played two seasons at Northwest Mississippi Community College. He rushed for more than 2,800 yards in two seasons with the Wildcats.
8. Jordan Todman, Connecticut, 5-9, 202: He was an unanimous selection as the Big East's offensive player of the year. He led the league in rushing with 1,695 yards.
9. Shane Vereen, California, 5-10, 209: In three seasons in the Pac-10 he averaged more than five yards per carry. Last season, he also caught 22 passes out of the backfield.
10. Delone Carter, Syracuse, 5-9, 220: He rushed for a career-high 1,233 yards last season. He was named the most valuable player of the East-West Shrine Game.
On the fringe: Dion Lewis, Pittsburgh; Alex Green, Hawaii; Roy Helu Jr., Nebraska; Darren Evans, Virginia Tech; Taiwan Jones, Eastern Washington; Anthony Allen, Georgia Tech, and Brandon Saine, Ohio State.
