On the hot seat: The Falcons' secondary

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees is closing in on the single-season passing record, which has stood for 27 years.

He needs 305 yards to break Dan Marino’s mark of 5,084 yards, set in 1984.

The Falcons’ secondary,  set to welcome the return of left cornerback Brent Grimes, doesn’t want the record set on them.

“We don’t want to be the team that he played against when he actually gets the record,” cornerback Kelvin Hayden said. “Mainly, you want to come out with the win, but secondarily we don’t want the record broken on us.”

Several other defensive backs said they don't want the record set in Monday night's matchup.

But defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder said he doesn't care about the record.

“We won’t talk about that,” VanGorder said. “We have to focus in on a lot of players, a lot of schemes and really need to concentrate on what we have to do to fight and stop their offense.”
