Roddy White is currently out of the country, which resulted in the Falcons notifying him of his release by text message Wednesday.
After the news, White also texted with ESPN’s Josina Anderson and expressed his appreciation for Falcons fans.
“I love them. I enjoyed. And it was fun,” White texted.
White played eight seasons for the Falcons after being drafted in the first round in 2005. He is the team's all-time leading receiver with 808 catches for 10,863 yards and 63 touchdowns in 11 seasons.
The 34-year-old White also texted to Anderson that he wants to play in the NFL “another year or 2.”
