Roby works in the shadow of Talib, Harris

Feb 2, 2016

SAN JOSE, CALIF. – Denver cornerback Bradley Roby, who played at Peachtree Ridge High before starring at Ohio State, is the Broncos less-heralded third cornerback.

Roby plays outside in their nickel package and behind Pro Bowlers Agib Talib and Chris Harris Jr. Roby, who was selected in the first-round (31st overall) of the 2014 draft, played 71 of 82 defensive snaps against New England in the AFC championship game. Roby played in all 16 games and made four starts this season.

With Harris and Talib, Roby usually enters the game knowing he’ll see some action. He had one interception and 10 pass breakups during the regular season.

“We have to prepare now and then just go out there and enjoy the moment because at the end of the day, it’s just a game,” Roby said. “We can dress it up and all the people in here and this and that, but at the end of the day after that first five minutes, we’re going to be locked in and find a way to win.”

The Broncos have had the luxury of developing Roby.

“I mean, other than quarterback, it’s the hardest position to me,” Roby said. “Just because, you know, one false step, it could be a touchdown and you’re going against some of the best athletes in the whole world.

“You have to stop them while you’re going backwards and they’re going forwards. They know what they’re doing. You have no idea. So it’s like super hard and that’s why the best get paid the big bucks.”
