Da' Rick Rogers trying to impress NFL scouts
When coming out of Calhoun High, Da’Rick Rogers was considered one of the top wide receivers in the nation.
He flipped on his commitment to Georgia and signed with Tennessee late in the recruiting process. His career at Tennessee was marred by drug problems and he was dismissed by the Vols after his third failed drug test for marijuana. He eventually ended his career at Tennessee Tech and is at the NFL scouting combine trying to land a spot in the NFL.
“I was immature, simple as that,” said Rogers, who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.44 seconds on Sunday and is rated as a second round pick by nfldraftscout.com draft analyst Rob Rang. "I had to take full responsibility, look in the mirror at who I was and what I was doing wrong. I did those things when I went to Tennessee Tech and it humbled me a lot."
In high school, Rogers was compared to Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones. He officially measured 6-foot 2- ½ inches and weighed 217.7 pounds at the combine.
Rogers noted that he passed all 10 of his drug tests at Tennessee Tech.
“It’s a little frustrating, but I did it to myself,” Rogers said.
