Falcons All-Pro wide receiver Julio Jones, who has recovered from offseason foot surgery, returned to 11-on-11 action at training camp Wednesday.

Jones was in on about five plays in the scrimmage portion of practice.

“It was great to have him back out there,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said.

Jones had a bunion, a bony bump on his left foot that caused him to miss substantial practice time late last season, surgically removed in March.

He was limited for the first five practices of training camp.  Jones had been taking part in the individual drills, but was play-calling and helping to coach the wide receivers during the team portion of practice.

He ran well and blocked as he was in on mostly running plays Wednesday.

“That was good to see,” Quinn said. “We knew he was moving back closer. We knew the first four-day block (of practices) was going to be all individual and getting the conditioning right.”

The Falcon open the exhibition season against Miami on Aug. 10. Jones likely will be held out of that game.

“No decision on (exhibition) action,” Quinn said.

Despite being slowed by the injuries, Jones turned in another spectacular season with 83 catches for 1,409 yards and six touchdown catches last season.

In the playoffs, Jones recorded 19 catches for 334 yards and three touchdowns. He made a spectacular catch in Super Bowl LI to move the Falcons to the 22-yard line with 4:40 to play.
