Falcons coach Dan Quinn was pleased with the end of OTAs and is squarely pointing toward the mandatory minicamp Tuesday through Thursday.
“For us, putting the package in for the long term of the things that we’ll need not just in training camp, but throughout the season as well,” Quinn said Thursday. “We did another round of situations at the end of the game. A lot of red-zone work today.”
Quinn, hasn’t changed his tune from the start of the offseason program. He expects to see all of his players at minicamp.
Defensive end Vic Beasley, defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, wide receiver Julio Jones and linebacker Deion Jones have not taken part in the offseason program. All are expected to attend the mandatory minicamp.
“I’m expecting that,” Quinn said when asked if all players are expected to attend. “I haven’t heard otherwise and we have regular communication. Unless something changes in the meantime, I expect to see those guys here.”
Jarrett and Jones are working on contract extensions. Jarrett signed his franchise-tag tender, while Julio Jones (foot) and Deion Jones are rehabbing. Beasley elected to train on his own.
Quinn has been in touch with Jarrett.
“We don’t discuss anything on the contractual side.” Quinn said. “We’ve got a great relationship. Most of our texts are about technique and what are you up to? Some are football-related, and some are not. He’s had such an impact both on and off the field with us. From that side of things, I haven’t heard otherwise that he wouldn’t be here.”
