Terren Jones suffered what appeared to be a serious injury during Sunday’s training camp practice.

The Falcons offensive lineman was put on a backboard and had his neck immobilized after being hurt during a drill. He was carted off the practice field and taken from the practice facility by ambulance. The exact nature or the extent of the injury were not immediately known.

The ambulance left the facility with its light and sirens on and Jones was transported to an undisclosed local hospital.

“We certainly hope Terren will be all right,” coach Mike Smith said. “We don’t have any update right now but as soon as we do we will release that information. Any time a player doesn’t leave the field on his own power you are always concerned.”

Smith said he would not comment further when asked specifically if Jones had shown any movement.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank, general manager Thomas Dimitroff and Smith were present as trainers and medical personnel worked on Jones.
