Falcons free safety Damontae Kazee, the early rookie star of training camp, suffered a setback Wednesday.

He rolled his ankle during a pass play. The fifth-round pick from San Diego State hobbled off the field, but quickly returned.

“It looked like he rolled his ankle, but he is such a tough guy,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. “We were trying to teach him; they are going no-huddle. You either need to get in or get out. We were trying to teach him a lesson.”

Ricardo Allen was excused for a personal matter Saturday and in his absence Kazee, who’s being converted from cornerback, took the snaps with the first-team defense.
