FLOWRY BRANCH – Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones earned the 2015 Pro Football Writers of America (Atlanta Chapter) Good Guy Award. Jones was lauded for having a consistent presence in the locker room this season during his weekly and post-game sessions.

Linebacker O’Brien Schofield was also a strong candidate. There were seven other players – tight end Jacob Tamme, linebacker Paul Worrilow, quarterback Matt Ryan, cornerback Desmond Trufant, fullback Pat DiMarco, running back Devonta Freeman and right tackle Ryan Schraeder — who also received votes.

Jones, through the five-game winning streak and the six-game losing streak, was also frank and leveled heading about the team’s flight. He always presented himsefl with class while handily all of the tough questions.

The Good Guy Award is given to a player for his qualities and professional style in helping pro football writers do their jobs. Worrilow won the award in 2014. Safety William Moore won the award last year, afety Thomas DeCoud won the award in 2012 and wide receiver Roddy White was the 2011 winner. The winner is eligible for the national award which was first given by the PFWA in 2005.

Falcons wide receiver Tony Gonzalez was the National winner in 2012.
