FLOWERY BRANCH — Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones is ready to help the team turnaround its recent bad fortunes.

The Falcons (6-4) have dropped four their past five games and face the Minnesota Vikings (7-4) in key NFC matchup with playoff implications at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Georgia Dome.

Jones said that team can lean on him to get through this rough patch.

Here’s was Jones has to say on Thursday on a variety of topics, including the Iron Bowl:

Q: What does a losing streak like this do?

A: "I just have to continue to stay positive and lead by example. Which means coming to work and staying in it. Showing effort, guys look at that kind of thing. You know. The season is not going the way we want it to go right now and guys are trying to see if guys are going to give up or who they need to lean on and I'm that guy. You can lean on me, you can watch me every day. I'm coming to work."

Q: How difficult is it to stay positive considering the way things have been?

A: "It's not difficult coming to work. I mean, that's just who I am. All about staying positive no matter what it is. Every day, positive attitude, positive mindset to come in and get better. And you got to bring your teammates along with you. Some guys lead by examples, some guys want to stand up and talk and do this, do that, but I'm all action."

Q: Is there more you could do? I mean, your numbers are ridiculous.

A: "I don't look as far as what I can do, just whatever the team asks of me. If I need to go out there and do more, you say my numbers are OK, I guess, but if they need me to do more, I'll try my best to do more. But when my numbers call I just try my best to deliver."

Q: Do you take it personal when people question your QB?

A: "I don't care what people say, personally. We got to be a family here, we got to be a team and this is more so what we do here. Everybody is going to have their own opinions about certain people but that's week to week. Matt can go out there and have a great game this week, they're not going to say anything else the next week. So, like I said, it's all opinionated. We just got to continue to stay tight here, continue to keep looking out for each other and just keep working for each other."

Q: What do you take from last year’s game against Vikings

A: "They're a physical defense. They beat us at our place last year. It's a different ball club, this year we have. And they have, obviously, a different ball club. It's all about the mindset of the club. I feel like we're playing, we complete every play. We just haven't been getting the outcome we want and we just need to keep playing the way we've been playing and hopefully the ball will start bouncing our way."

Q: Any extra pressure this week?

A: "No, not at all. There's no added pressure. It's the most important game cause it's the next game. We've got to treat this game like any other game. We got to go in there with a winner's mentality. Cause we have a great football team. And our record, you know, we're still positive. We got to go out there and win six more games"

Q: Do you ever compare yourself to Peterson, seeing what he’s doing?

A: "No not all. I don't look at other people, as far as my position, corners. If I'm not going against them, I don't look at them. I don't really watch football, I mean it's not my thing. I just got to focus on me and being the best I can be."

Q: Gonna watch the Iron bowl? Predictions?

A: "Yes." "No predictions, no predictions. Those games are always kinda tight or it's a blowout. I don't know this year."

Q: Right now you’re averaging two more catches per game than last year. How have you gotten that total up?

A: "I don't know. I don't know anything about no numbers. You know, catching two more balls than I did last year. Like I said, when my numbers call I just try to deliver the best I can. I don't know about Marvin Harrison's record or if I'm on pace for a record. I'm just trying to win football games, right now."

Q: How do you like Alabama’s chances right now?

A: "Yes, they definitely can make a run for it. Coach Saban is going to have those guys ready, he just don't want those guys to look ahead cause of course you got the Iron Bowl and then you've got Florida in the SEC Championship game so those guys just gotta stay mentally focused and stay in it."
