Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones (hamstring) was held out of practice today, Falcons coach Dan Quinn said.
Also, linebacker O’Brien Schofield (leg), returner Devin Hester, linebacker Brooks Reed and defensive end Malliciah Goodman didn’t practice on Wednesday.
Left tackle Jake Matthews (back) and defensive tackle/end Adrian Clayborn (thumb) were limited in practice.
Jones was slated to practice, but after practice Quinn said decided to hold Jones and Schofield back.
Jones was going in and out of the game against the Eagles on Monday. Quinn said it wasn’t a serious concern, but didn’t reveal it was hamstring injury until it was put on the team’s official injury report.
Jones spent extra time in the training room after the game. He said had bad scratches on his leg and arm from the turf at the Georgia Dome.
Falcons running backs Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman missed major parts of the exhibition season with hamstring injuries.
Quinn said Jones’ hamstring injury wasn’t a major concern.
“We were laughing during the game,” Quinn said. ” (Jones said,) ‘I’m going with rule two, no excuses.’ He’s a battler.”
Hester (turf toe) and Reed (groin surgery) did not play against Philadelphia. Goodman suffered a triceps injury against the Eagles. He had two tackles and one quarterback hit against the Eagles.
Goodman played 27 of the 74 snaps (36 percent) against the Eagles.
Also, the Falcons signed wide receiver LeRon Byrd to the practice squad and released tackle Pierce Burton.
