Falcons defensive tackle Corey Peters, who said he’s ready to play with no limitations after Achilles surgery, is inactive for the season opener against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
Quarterback Sean Renfree, cornerback Javier Arenas, tackle Ryan Schraeder, center James Stone, linebacker Nate Stupar and defensive end Tyler Starr were the other Falcons inactives.
Peters is about eight months removed from surgery to repair a right Achilles tendon rupture suffered during the 15th game of 2013. He was listed as probable on the injury report after participating fully in practice this week, according to the Falcons.
Peters, 26, averaged about 44 snaps over the first 15 games of 2013 and had a solid season, especially against the run. The Falcons signed Peters to a one-year contact after he became a free agent following the season.
The Saints inactive players were: cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste, safety Marcus Ball, fullback Erik Lorig, guard Senio Kelemete, wide receiver Kenny Stills, wide receiver Nick Toon and nose tackle John Jenkins.
