Here’s what Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan had to say after practice on Sunday:

On how he felt about the overall performance in Thursday’s game:

“I thought our team did a nice job, obviously finishing with the end of the game. Our defense did a great job getting off the field when we needed it, coming up with the big sack on fourth down. I thought we have a lot of things to clean up from the first game, but the effort was really good. I thought our young guys did a nice job, and the key is to be better this week when we go play in Cleveland. That’s what everybody’s focus is.”

On how he felt the offense performed today:

“I thought we had a good practice today. I think it’s kind of the same every year. I think you see a lot of improvement from the first time you go out there to the second time. The reason being the sense of urgency is there. Not that is hasn’t been. I think we’ve been pretty good with that, but the guys understand we need to get things correct in practice. We know specific things we need to work on to be better, and I thought the focus and effort was really good today.”

On if it was tough to get into a rhythm in the preseason game only playing two series:

“Yeah that’s kind of the nature of the preseason. You want to work on some things, try a few things, and knock some of the rust off. I thought the first series, first throw, it was a little bit rusty and low, but after that it felt like I put the ball in the place where I wanted to and that’s the key to be after it and to be effective. I thought we were after that. We just needed to make some more plays.”

On what specifics he wanted to work on today after Thursday’s game:

“I mean, it’s just getting back out on to the field and practicing to get better. I think overall I did some good things in the last game. Put the ball in places where I wanted to, but it’s a small sample size. Six plays are six plays. It’s good to get that rust off, and then it’s just coming back and working on all the things we need to do to get better.”
