NEW YORK GIANTS (1 p.m. Sunday)

Record: 2-2

Thursday's game: Defeated the Washington Redskins 45-14.

The skinny: Eli Manning is starting to get more comfortable with the Giants' new offense. Offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo brought the West Coast attack from Green Bay and the Giants struggled with it initially. Manning is becoming more accustomed to high-percentage passing concepts. He completed 13 of his first 15 passes and 20 of his first 24. Overall, he has completed 28-of-39 (72%) passes for 300 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. The Giants are hoping the return of Odell Beckham Jr., the team's first-round pick who has been sidelined since August with a hamstring injury, will provide a deep-ball threat. He returned to practice before the Washington game but was inactive on Thursday.

Series history: The Giants are 10-11 in the series in the regular season and 0-1 in the playoffs. The Giants, who were then on their way to a Super Bowl title, smashed the Falcons 24-2 in the wild-card round of the playoffs after the 2010 season.

State of the union: The skeptical New York media is not too impressed with the Giants' 2-2 start. Here's how New York Post columnist Steve Serby assessed their situation after the Redskins game: "It was one game, one game that stopped the bleeding, one game that will launch a season, but only if the Giants are as good as they believe they are and Eli Manning is as good as they believe he will be in the West Coast offense. The most encouraging development, other than Rashad Jennings rumbling the way he did against the Texans behind a brass-knuckled offensive line, was Manning doing what elite quarterbacks are supposed to do: making everyone around him better. It was the first time Manning had displayed a mastery of Ben McAdoo's system — from stepping into his throws and slinging the ball with authority and accuracy to the open man, to adeptly changing plays at the line of scrimmage and getting his team in the right play. A reminder it isn't only Manning's arm that can beat you, but his mind as well. … Now, he must do it again."

Three things: 1) Who's Larry Donnell and why wasn't he on your fantasy draft boards? The second-year tight end from Grambling State had three touchdown catches against Washington. He has six over the past two games. 2) The Giants secondary shined against Washington as free safety Quintin Demps, starting over Stevie Brown, had one of their four interceptions. Cornerback Truamaine McBride had an interception and a fumble recovery. Prince Amukamara and Antrel Rolle also had picks. 3) Giants middle linebacker Jon Beason sat out the Washington game after he re-injured his foot. Jameel McClain filled in and and had five tackles. Beason believes he has enough time to get healthy to face the Falcons.
