The Falcons unveiled Thursday the throwback jerseys they will wear for two games this season.

“They look good,” running back Michael Turner said. “I like wearing throwbacks. I like wearing something different for a change. Especially if they look sharp.”

The team pays homage to the inaugural 1966 team, with a black jersey, white pants and red helmet.

“We have a nice throwback jersey,” Turner said. “The fans will love them. It’s still got the black jersey. The red helmet is going to stand out a little bit.”

The Falcons will wear them when they play host to the defending NFC South champion Carolina Panthers on Sept. 20. They will wear them again when Tampa Bay comes to the Georgia Dome on Nov. 29.

“NFL Throwback Weekend is an opportunity for our club and our fans to honor and celebrate our inaugural team,” Falcons president Rich McKay said. “Honoring past teams and former players is a time-honored tradition in the NFL.”
