Falcons Tyson Jackson reveals new look at training camp
Falcons defensive tackle Tyson Jackson reported to training camp Wednesday looking a little different.
The eighth-year veteran sported a fresh haircut, instead of his signature braids that he has come to be known for in his career.
“To tell you the truth, I was ready for a new look, and so I decided to call the barber and chop it (the braids) off,” Jackson said. “It is really refreshing to finally be able to take a shower and wash my hair.”
Jackson had his braids for 14 years throughout college and the NFL. He said that the decision was just based on the right time. However, that didn’t stop him from getting compliments from his fellow teammates.
“I just seen him and I told him good look,” Falcons nose tackle Grady Jarrett said. “He said it had been 14 years but it looks good.”
Other teammates, who hadn’t heard the news, were a little surprised. Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant, who has dreadlocks, said that Jackson’s decision is something he could potentially make in the near future.
“I might be right behind him,” Trufant said jokingly. “I think I got like one more year before I might chop mine (his hair) off. I feel him as this heat is no joke with this hair.”
Jackson is making the transition to defensive tackle this season. He is expected to use his rushing ability on the inside to get more pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
In 2015, he had 31 tackles in 16 games as a defensive end.
