Falcons sign linebacker Anderson

The Falcons signed veteran linebacker James Anderson to fill the roster spot vacated by placing running back Antone Smith on injured reserve on Thursday.

Anderson, 6-2, 240 pounds, was originally selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round (88th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft.

He has played in 117 games with 69 starts in nine seasons while totaling 383 tackles with 12 sacks, three interceptions, and 23 passes defensed.

Anderson played seven seasons with the Panthers and played last season in Chicago.
