WIDE RECEIVER JULIO JONES

On the game

“We are not trying to say they were trying to give us the game. We have to go out there and do what we do. We didn’t capitalize on it. They were the better team today.”

On the offense’s failures

“It’s a team game all the way around. The defense did their part. I can only speak for offense. I play offense. I can’t talk about defense, special teams or anything else. I feel like when we are in that position we should make those plays. We just have to keep working. We are not throwing anybody under the bus or anything like that. We are together as a group and we have to keep working.”

WIDE RECEIVER RODDY WHITE

On the defense

“The defense did a good job today. They gave up 24, 25 points today. They gave us three turnovers today. They gave us short fields. I felt like they did pretty good. We just didn’t hold up our end of the bargain. We have to execute better and find a way to get the ball in the end zone more. We are missing a few things. It’s frustrating going back to the sideline and going over the cards and seeing how we just missed little things here and there. It’s costing us ball games.”

On the choppy offensive performance

“It was just up and down. It’s been that way the whole year. We go out there and get two first downs and then not get two first downs and punt. It’s just the little things. We have to get the little things fixed if we want to win. If we want to give ourselves a chance to win, we have to fix the little things.”

CORNERBACK DESMOND TRUFANT

On the loss

“This was a tough loss for our team because it felt like it was our game to win. You have to give them Browns a lot of credit because they found a way to come up on top. I felt like we made a lot of plays throughout the game, but I guess it wasn’t enough. Our defense was solid, but we couldn’t stop them from scoring the last-second field goal. But somehow we have to put this loss behind us and start preparation for the opponent next week.”

LINEBACKER PAUL WORRILOW

On the run defense

“This is frustrating, especially on that (Isaiah) Crowell touchdown run where numerous guys had a chance at him. I was coming through my gap, he was able to hit the edge, and I missed him, and a couple other people did as well. You just have to get him down and make them play the next down.”

OFFENSIVE GUARD JUSTIN BLALOCK

On the Browns’ defense

“It is certainly one of the more exotic packages that we’ve come across. We needed a lot of equipment, so to speak, to handle their packages. We had our hands full with trying to identify everything and get our guys in the right places.”

DEFENSIVE END KROY BIERMANN

On the Browns’ game-winning drive

“We had it. We had 44 seconds to stop them, and we just didn’t get it done. It’s very disappointing for us as a defense. We’ve got to get it fixed, and we have to win games like that.”

On closing out the game

“No, you’ve got to play 60 minutes. Nothing is ever in the bag, as you can see. You’ve got to finish.”

On if the Falcons thought they had the game won after Desmond Trufant’s interception with 4:51 left

“Matt (Ryan) is the true definition of a pro. He knows how to handle it; we know how to handle it. We’re good, man. We are going to learn from the film and then come out and be better next week.”

DEFENSIVE TACKLE COREY PETERS

On the final drive

“Up front, we’ve just got to do a better job to get pressure on the quarterback and get him on the ground. A sack in that situation would be huge.”

WIDE RECEIVER HARRY DOUGLAS

On the team’s lackluster offense

“No. 1, you’ve got to give your hats off to Cleveland. They did a great job scheming different things up and doing different things. But we’ve got to look in the mirror at ourselves, first. It’s not just one person. It’s all 11 of us out there on the field. We are all a unit. We are all in this together. We are never going to point the finger at anybody.”
