The NFC South champion Falcons will open the playoffs at 4:35 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Georgia Dome against the highest-seeded team to advance from this weekend’s wild-card round.
The Falcons said a few thousand tickets remain for the game via atlantafalcons.com/tickets or Ticketmaster.
The Falcons (11-5) will face the Seahawks, Packers or Giants. The third-seeded Seahawks (10-5-1) play host to the No. 6 Lions (9-7) on Saturday and the No. 4 Packers (10-6) play host to the No. 5 Giants (11-5) on Sunday.
If the Seahawks win, they would play the Falcons in the divisional round. If the Lions beat the Seahawks, the Falcons would face the winner of the Packers-Giants game and the Lions would play at top-seeded Dallas on Jan. 15.
The Falcons secured the bye with a 38-32 victory at the Georgia Dome on Sunday. They Falcons were 5-3 at home this season.
“Man, did we feel their presence (Sunday),” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said of the team’s fans. “I know we ask our guys to set it off on the field but clearly (fans) had set it off off the field. We felt them in pregame warm up and, right off the bat, we came out and had a three-and-out (on defense) and scored right after. From the team, that (fan support) was totally appreciated.”
Green Bay is perhaps the hottest team among the playoff participants with a six-game winning streak. The Falcons defeated the Packers 33-32 on Oct. 30 at the Georgia Dome.
The Falcons went toe-to-toe with the Seahawks before losing 26-24 on Oct. 16 in Seattle. The Falcons blew a late 24-23 lead when quarterback Matt Ryan threw an interception off the hands of wide receiver Julio Jones.
Also, there was a controversial non-call as Seattle defensive back Richard Sherman held Jones on a deep pass play that would have put the Falcons in field goal range for the victory.
Falcons head coach Dan Quinn came to the team from Seattle, where he was their record-setting defensive coordinator.
