Former Falcons head coach Jim Mora has landed a job as head coach at UCLA, according to a Los Angeles Times report.
The newspaper cites a person familiar with the negotiations at the University of California at Los Angeles and said a formal announcement was expected Saturday.
Mora, most recently an analyst with the NFL Network, was hired as head Falcons coach in 2004 and remained in Atlanta until 2006. He took the Falcons to the NFC championship in 2004 but lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.
In Atlanta, he was 11-5 in his first season, 8-8 in his second and 7-9 in his last. Falcons owner Arthur Blank fired him in 2006.
Mora was later signed to a five-year contract as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks in February 2009 but was fired a year later after a 5-11 season.
He was also an assistant NFL coach in San Diego, San Francisco and New Orleans, where he served alongside his father, former Saints coach Jim E. Mora.
Mora, 50, will take over at UCLA in his first college head coaching job. The Los Angeles native's father was an assistant UCLA coach in 1974.
Mora will replace Rick Neuheisel, who was fired last month and left the UCLA Bruins with a 21-29 record.
