On how important it is to get another conference game in the books:
“It’s just important to get the next one. I think that’s the kind of the mindset that everybody has regardless of what division it is, conference, or whatever. I think everybody is just excited about the opportunity to try and get another win. That’s kind of what the focus and mindset from Dan Quinn on down has been from day one. I think guys have bought into that and kind of stayed true to that the entire season so far.”
On the offensive line:
“I think first and foremost, we’ve got a really good core group of guys up there that can play. I think they’re getting more comfortable together and continuing to improve. You really see that from week-to-week. Those guys are getting better, and I’m really happy for them because it’s a really hard working group of guys, and they’ve played great ball so far.”
On Roddy White’s comments:
“Obviously, I always want guys who want the ball, and I’ve always wanted that throughout my career. Competitive guys want to be involved. I know Roddy [White] as well as anyone in this building, and he’s about winning. There’s no question about that, so I understand he’s a competitor and wants to make some more plays. I really believe that as the year goes on the ball’s going to find different people. I mean the way people are defending us, and having to adjust to where Julio Jones is at, coverage is going to allow other guys to step up and make a lot of plays. This week, it was Leonard Hankerson. The first week it was Roddy [White]. He had a big week against Philly. It’s going to be different guys. He’s going to make a ton of plays for us this year.”
More on White:
“I’ve been around him eight seasons. He’s always been professional, and one of the best teammates I’ve been around.”
On the passing progression:
“No, he knows when I’m out there I’m going through progressions looking at what coverage they’re playing against us, trying to find ways to move the ball, and completions. Like I said before, I think as you continue to do that the ball’s going to find different guys as the year goes on. I’ve always kind of operated that way.”
On Washington:
“Obviously, Washington has run the ball really effectively this year as I think we have too. From an offensive standpoint, I don’t think it changes for us. Every time we touch the ball it’s about scoring points and finding ways to run the ball, throw the ball or whatever it takes to get the ball in the end zone. That approach doesn’t change regardless of who you’re going against. You’ve got to find ways to get it in the endzone.”
On Leonard Hankerson:
“I think first and foremost, he’s got a great skill set. Hank’s a long guy with good hands and great speed, and he’s able to stop and start really well for a longer guy. With teams adjusting coverage for where Julio Jones is at, I think it’s created a lot of one-on-one opportunity for a lot of different guys, and Hank has made a bunch of plays for us. I think he’s done a great job early on for us this season.”
On the offense’s improvement:
“I think we’ve run the ball really effectively in the red area. I think last week we had like one pass attempt or something like that. When you’re doing that, especially inside that 10-yard line, it helps out a bunch in the red area.”
On the Redskins being down two starters:
“I don’t think it changes too much. I feel like our group of guys, and myself, have an advantage on the outside because of the guys that we have. That’s not a knock on anybody that we go against that’s just the way we feel. It doesn’t change our approach. We’ve got to be on top of our plan, make sure that we’re operating at our highest level on Sunday, and play our best ball from 1-4 on Sunday.”
On whether there’s an extra incentive to get a win for Kyle Shanahan more this Sunday:
“I don’t think so. I think Dan Quinn talks about all the time regardless of what the situation, or who we’re going against we don’t make anything up. We do what we do. I think Kyle [Shanahan] is very much that same way. Obviously, you know, he spent time in Washington and has ties there, but we’re on to us and trying to make this week our best offensive performance so far. For me, that’s really my mindset and I think he would say the same.”
