Cam Newton makes 10-year-old heart patient’s wish come true

Cam Newton is Superman.

The Carolina quarterback isn’t having an MVP season, but for one young fan he’s a hero.

Taylor Deckard, a 10-year-old from Alabama, was diagnosed with advanced pulmonary hypertension last month.

His fifth-grade teacher made this plea on Facebook (which has now been shared more than 3,000 times):

“Doctors fear he may not make it through. Please pray for a miracle,” teacher Courtney Cooper wrote.

Taylor, a huge Auburn fan, has been at Atlanta’s Egleston Hospital for Children for weeks ahead of a procedure he will have this week.

Word reached Newton, who went to the hospital to surprise Taylor three days after a 33-16 loss to the Falcons in Charlotte, N.C.

As he entered the room Newton, a College Park native who won a national championship at Auburn, remarked, "I thought I had an unknown number, but dude I've gotten about 100 calls about you."

The Phenix City, Ala., boy’s response was to give Newton about the biggest hug anyone could ever give:
