Last season in the second game of the season, the Falcons suffered a rash of injuries the helped to send them down the path to 4-12.

Defensive end Kroy Beirmann, running back Steven Jackson, fullback Bradie Ewing , cornerback Asante Samuel and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon were all injured against the Rams and missed significant time. Biermann and Ewing were done for the season.

By the time Jackson, Weatherspoon and Samuel made it back, the season was already lost.

Against the Vikings on Sunday, the Falcons suffered a similarly brutal day on the injury front ad three starting offensive linemen were knocked out along with starting strong safety William Moore (shoulder), who could be out for the season.

Left guard Justin Blalock (lower back) and center Joe Hawley (right knee) are scheduled for MRIs. Right tackle Lamar Holmes (right foot) was also injured in the game.

The line was so decimated that tight end Levine Toilolo ended up playing right tackle down the stretch.

If a player is lost for the season, Falcons coach Mike Smith will give an update. If he has a chance to play this week, he’ll releases that information with the team’s official injury report on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
