A pick after the Falcons selected Vic Beasley eighth overall pick, the New York Giants tabbed left tackle Ereck Flowers from Miami in the NFL draft.

Both started in their first NFL games last week and will meet in Week Two when the Falcons (1-0) face the Giants (0-1) at 1 p.m. Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Beasley had a tough matchup against the Eagles tackle Jason Peters, the seven-time Pro Bowler, in the season-opener.

Flowers hurt his ankle against Dallas, but played through the pain. He was limited in practice on Wednesday.

Despite being in the ACC, Clemson and Miami did not face each other from 2012-2014.

“He’s definitely a good tackle,” Beasley said. “He went high in the draft, so I know there are some good things about him. I have to do my studying on him throughout the rest of the week.”

Giants quarterback Eli Manning is looking forward to the matchup.

“I thought (Flowers) played well the other day in Dallas,” Manning said. “The first game at left tackle on the road is not an easy thing to do, especially on the road. I thought he hung in there and played tough. Hopefully, he’ll continue to get more comfortable and play better and better, which I think he will.”

Manning watched the Falcons on Monday and noticed Beasley.

“He’s quick off the ball,” Manning said. “He has a spin move and he did a good job of getting to the quarterback. I don’t know if he ended up with a sack or not. He was very disruptive and was back there a bunch. He was getting hits on the quarterback a bunch.”
