The Atlanta Journal-Constitution asked fans to name some of their favorite plays from the rivalry between Georgia and Georgia Tech. Here is one of those plays:
Final score: Georgia 44-7, Dec. 5, 1981.
The play: Buck Belue connected with Lindsay Scott for an 80-yard touchdown pass on the game's first play.
Memories: "That was a big one," said Scott, who owns and manages a cleaning company and is traveling to promote the book "Belue to Scott!" "We had some fun with that."
Scott said the play was set up by a similar play in the game against Auburn the week before. In that victory Scott dropped a long pass. When he came to the sideline, he said coach Vince Dooley animatedly told him that he needed to make the play.
However, the coaching staff liked the play so much they ran something similar against the Yellow Jackets.
“We play-actioned to [Herschel] Walker, they sucked in, and we hit that thing on the fly,” Scott said. “It was beautiful.”
