By this point the scene has become a tired cliche: Top football recruits hold a news conference to announce their college choice and pick from among hats of different schools, sometimes faking everyone out by picking up one hat before doffing another.

At least UGA recruit Isaiah McKenzie put a new spin on the routine.

The drama was manufactured but the announcement was a real surprise. As reported by the AJC's Michael Carvell, Georgia didn't offer McKenzie a scholarship until Monday.
