By this point the scene has become a tired cliche: Top football recruits hold a news conference to announce their college choice and pick from among hats of different schools, sometimes faking everyone out by picking up one hat before doffing another.

At least UGA recruit Isaiah McKenzie put a new spin on the routine.

As described by the South Florida Sun Sentinel, McKenzie took to the stage at American Heritage (Fla.) High with Virginia Tech and Ole Miss hats. But just as McKenzie was set to announce his decision, teammate Sony Michel, another Bulldogs signee, walked over and gave McKenzie a Georgia hat.

The drama was manufactured but the announcement was a real surprise. As reported by the AJC's Michael Carvell, Georgia didn't offer McKenzie a scholarship until Monday.
