Washington out at least 2 weeks for Georgia State hoops

Georgia State’s men’s basketball team will start practice on Friday without center Curtis Washington.

Washington underwent surgery for a hernia two weeks ago and is expected to miss at least two weeks of practice.

Washington started 31 games last year, averaging 7.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

T.J. Shipes is expected to start at center until Washington recovers.

The Panthers, which went 17-1 in the Sun Belt last year, will open their season with an exhibition game against Georgia College on Nov. 3. The regular season will begin Nov. 14 against Tennessee Temple on Nov. 14.
