The Valdosta State Blazers secured back-to-back league championships for the first time since 2001-02 with a 42-14 win Saturday over West Georgia in Carrollton.

Powered by 519 yards of total offense, the Blazers improved to 10-0 and 8-0 in the Gulf South Conference. It is their eight conference championship.

Valdosta State tallied a season-high six sacks for 37 yards and seven tackles for loss for 39 yards, holding West Georgia to just 16 rushing yards. The Blazers held West Georgia to 0 of 4 in the red zone and 5 of 15 on third down.

The Blazers’ 25-game win streak is tied for 11th longest winning in NCAA Division II.

There are no automatic bids in Division II.

Valdosta State earned a first-round bye in the Division II playoffs. They await the winner between fourth-seeded Wingate and West Florida.
