Terry Godwin, the leading receiver this season for the Georgia football team, suffered a rib injury in the first half of Saturday’s game against Missouri.
Head coach Kirby Smart expressed optimism after the game when asked about the severity of Godwin’s injury.
“I think he’ll be fine,” Smart said. “He had to go get it checked out and go get it X-rayed. He should be fine.”
Godwin returned to the sideline during the second half, walking on his own power, but was limping and walking very slowly, according to DawgNation reporter Jeff Sentell.
Godwin had four catches for 42 yards in the game before leaving. He appeared to land on the ball on the play in which he was injured.
While Georgia didn’t necessarily need Godwin on Saturday, racking up a season-high 562 yards before the third quarter was even over, the junior has been the team’s top receiver this season.
Godwin came in leading Georgia with 327 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He had 12 catches entering the game.
