Tony Zenon continues strong camp
Georgia Tech A-back Tony Zenon continued a strong camp with an 18-yard reception from quarterback Tim Byerly and effective blocking. Zenon is in perhaps the most competitive position battle in camp, with Charles Perkins, Synjyn Days, Deon Hill and others also in the mix.
“I had a few good blocks, which was the main thing I was trying to work on today,” Zenon said.
Before he went out with an apparently minor injury, quarterback Justin Thomas connected with wide receiver DeAndre Smelter on passes of 11 and 21 yards. Thomas was on the money on a third that Smelter dropped.
All-ACC guard Shaquille Mason was not present, having returned home to Columbia, Tenn., earlier in the week to attend the birth of his daughter, Kamrie Maleah Mason. With Mason out, Nick Brigham played right guard. Centers Freddie Burden and Thomas O’Reilly took turns with the first-string offense.
