Time, TV set for Georgia’s first three games, including opener at Vanderbilt

AUG. 31 - Georgia will open the 2019 season on the road – in an SEC game at Vanderbilt. Sept. 7 - Georgia will face Murray State for the first time since 1945, a UGA win. SEPT. 14 - In its second home game, Georgia faces Arkansas State for the third time ever. Georgia is 2-0. SEPT. 21 - Notre Dame plays in Athens for the first time ever. The teams met in South Bend in 2017. OCT. 5 - After a bye week, Georgia goes to Tennessee. The Bulldogs are 9-10-1 at Neyland Stadium. OCT. 12 - The Bulldogs face South

Georgia will play its football season opener under the lights on the SEC Network.

That information was released Thursday as ESPN announced its SEC schedule for the first three weeks.

The Bulldogs will open their season against Vanderbilt at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 in Nashville.

The UGA home opener is set for 4 p.m. Sept. 7 against Murray State on ESPN2. Legendary former Georgia coach Vince Dooley will be honored that day when the field at Sanford Stadium gets the name Vince Dooley Field.

The Bulldogs’ third game of the season, against Arkansas State on Sept. 14, will kickoff at noon on either ESPN or ESPN2.

Georgia will play Notre Dame on Sept. 21. Time and TV information has not been announced, but CBS revealed Wednesday that the network plans an SEC doubleheader that day, with games at 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., a possible indication that the Bulldogs and the Fighting Irish could play in the prime-time slot.
