Tech QB Tim Byerly put on scholarship

April 25, 2014

Georgia Tech quarterback Tim Byerly is a walk-on no longer. Byerly, a Chattahoochee High who joined the team as a walk-on in 2012 after transferring from Middle Tennessee State, will be put on scholarship by coach Paul Johnson starting this summer.

Byerly earned the grant, coming into the spring behind No. 1 Justin Thomas and pushing him with his solid play throughout. Tech now has four scholarship quarterbacks – Thomas, Byerly, Ty Griffin and Matthew Jordan.
