Georgia Tech safety Jamal Golden returned to practice Tuesday after suffering what he called a mild concussion on his second kickoff return in Saturday’s loss to Duke. Golden said he got hit when a collision with a Duke tackler caused his head to hit the Grant Field turf.

“I got up, I couldn’t focus on anything for about 10 seconds,” he said. “I laid back down on the ground and once I came to my senses, I was good. By the time I got back to the sideline, I was fine.”

Golden said he wanted to go back in the game, but the medical staff took his helmet away. After the game, Golden said he was tested by team doctor Angelo Galante and has not had any concussion symptoms since the game. He has since been cleared.

“I’ll be good to go Saturday,” he said.
