Morehouse used a pair of dominant spurts to pull away from Fisk University for a 73-61 victory Tuesday at Forbes Arena.

The victory was the 300th in the coaching career of Morehouse’s Grady Brewer, a former Maroon Tigers player and assistant now beginning his 20th season as head coach. Fisk, coached by former Georgia Tech All-American Kenny Anderson, held a nine-point lead with five minutes remaining in the first half before a 16-4 Morehouse run gave the Maroon Tigers a 32-29 halftime lead.

Fisk pulled ahead 35-34 early in the second half before Morehouse went on a 32-17 run over the next 12 minutes that opened a 66-52 lead with five minutes remaining.

Xavier Brewer scored 15 points to lead four players in double figures for Morehouse (1-0). Addison Miller led Fisk with 16 points.
