Anthony Jennings will leave LSU and pursue his final collegiate season elsewhere as a graduate transfer.

LSU expects Jennings, a graduate of Marietta High, to remain at LSU until he graduates over the summer. He spent three seasons with the Tigers, who were 9-4 when he was the starting quarterback. Jennings started LSU’s bowl win over Iowa in the 2014 Outback Bowl and then started all but one game the following year as a sophomore.

“Anthony did a lot of really good things for our program,” LSU coach Les Miles said in a news release. “As a freshman, he came in for an injured Zach Mettenberger and led us to a last-minute win over Arkansas and then he helped us to eight wins the following year as a sophomore.

“This is an opportunity for Anthony to put himself in a position to help another team have success. We wish him nothing but good fortune in the future and we appreciate all that he did while he was part of our program.”

Jennings was AJC honorable mention as a senior at Marietta, when he led the Blue Devils to an 8-4 record.

In three seasons at LSU, Jennings played in 24 games, starting 13 times. He completed 124 of 256 passes for 1,792 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 310 yards and a touchdown.
