KENNESAW STATE GAMEDAY
Who: Kennesaw State (6-3, 2-2 Big South) at Coastal Carolina (8-1, 3-1)
When: 2 p.m. Saturday
Three things to know
1. Kennesaw State is coming off a 28-14 loss to Charleston Southern, its first loss at home this season. Coastal Carolina is coming off a 46-0 win over Gardner-Webb.
2. The Owls’ chances of keeping alive a spot in the FCS playoffs evaporated with last week’s loss because the Bucs clinched at least a share of the title and have the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Owls.
3. Coastal Carolina is averaging a Big South-best 35.2 points per game and allowing 18.1 points per game, second-best in the conference. Kennesaw State is averaging 33.2 points per game and is allowing 19.3.
Player to watch: Kennesaw State offense
QB Jake McKenzie. He started at quarterback before moving to B-back when injuries depleted that group. He moved back to quarterback when Trey White suffered a shoulder injury during last week's loss. Coach Brian Bohannon said he has confidence in McKenzie, citing the fact he played 70 snaps at quarterback during one of the team's scimmages. It was something that Bohannon said he has never before seen.
Player to watch: Kennesaw State defense
S Taylor Henkle. The Big South Conference freshman of the week has four interceptions, which leads the conference. He also leads the team with 51 tackles. Henkle is a player that Bohannon said usually is quiet and does what he's supposed to do.
Player to watch: Coastal Carolina offense
QB Alex Ross. The Atlanta native ranks second in the conference in total offense (241.2 yards per game) and second in passing (223 yards per game). He completes 67.6 percent of his passes with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions.
Player to watch: Coastal Carolina defense
S Michael Billings. In his first start last week, he had five tackles, including a sack, and forced a fumble.
