Record: 1-0, 0-0 SEC

Last time played: South Carolina defeated Georgia 17-6 last year on Sept. 11 in Columbia as Gamecocks freshman running back Marcus Lattimore rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns on 37 carries in his SEC debut.

South Carolina on offense: Senior quarterback Stephen Garcia did not start last week's season opener against East Carolina, breaking his streak of 28 consecutive starts, but came off the bench to account for three touchdowns (one passing, two rushing) and lead the Gamecocks from an early 17-0 deficit to a 56-37 victory. Garcia will start at Georgia. Lattimore opened his sophomore season by rushing for 112 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery set single-season school records last year with 88 catches for 1,517 yards.

South Carolina on defense: After struggling against Boise State's defensive front last week, Georgia will face a highly regarded South Carolina line boosted by the addition of freshman DE Jadeveon Clowney, who was the nation's No. 1-rated recruit this past year. The Gamecocks' defense held Georgia without a touchdown in last year's game.

South Carolina on special teams: The Gamecocks have a new punter and placekicker, replacing Spencer Lanning, who filled both roles last season. Ace Sanders returned a punt 68 yards for a score last week.

What you should know: After winning five consecutive games against South Carolina in 2002-2006, Georgia is 2-2 in its past four games against the Gamecocks, including 1-1 in the past two in Sanford Stadium.

What you might not know: The Gamecocks were picked to win the SEC East in the media's preseason poll -- the first time they had been picked higher than third in the annual survey in their 20 years in the league.

Coach: Steve Spurrier, 187-73-2 in 21-plus seasons as a major-college head coach, 45-33 at South Carolina.
