Arkansas State used a late 8-0 run to earn a come-from-behind 90-87 win over Georgia State.

Melo Eggleston hit two free throws with 10 seconds left, then dunked as time expired to seal the win at First National Bank Arena.

J.J. Matthews had 18 points to lead five Arkansas State players in double figures. Eggleston added 16 points for the Red Wolves while Caleb Fields, Marquis Eaton and Jerry Johnson each chipped in 11.

Georgia State senior Damon Wilson just missed a double-double with 19 points and eight rebounds for the Panthers (10-6, 3-2 Sun Belt) which dropped its second-straight game on the road. Nelson Phillips added 16 points. Kavonte Ivery had 13 points in the loss.

The 90 points marks a season best for Arkansas State (11-5, 3-2 Sun Belt Conference).

The Panthers — shooting 60.6 percent from the floor, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range — put up a season-high 52 points in the first half and led 52-41 at the break.

The Panthers continued their stretch in the second half, holding the Red Wolves without a field goal for more than five minutes. With just over five minutes to play, Wilson knocked down 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to give the Panthers an 80-72 lead with 5:27 remaining, but the home team kept chipping away before the final run in the last few minutes.

The Panthers finished the game shooting 51.6 percent from the floor and 9-of-23 from 3-point range.

Georgia State next takes on Louisiana-Lafayette Thursday at home.
