Not long after sending out a tweet reacting to the sudden departure of defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, Georgia cornerback Shaq Wiggins was taken to jail on two misdemeanor traffic offenses.

Wiggins, a freshman starter in the Bulldogs’ beleaguered defensive backfield, was arrested at 10:30 p.m. Sunday for driving on a suspended license and speeding. The 19-year-old from Tyrone was released on a $2,000 bond by Double O bonding an hour and a half later at 12:09 a.m. Monday, according to police records.

Wiggins started eight of the 12 games he played this past season and had two interceptions, one that he returned for a touchdown against Vanderbilt and one against Nebraska in the Gator Bowl.

Georgia typically does not suspend players for traffic offenses.
