Georgia Tech defensive lineman Trent Sellers became the Yellow Jackets' fifth player to transfer since the end of the regular season. Sellers made the announcement via Twitter on Wednesday.

Sellers, a redshirt freshman this season, appeared in one game this season and did not record any statistics. He faced a considerable challenge to win playing time with Kyle Cerge-Henderson, Brentavious Glanton and Brandon Adams ahead of him on the depth chart at defensive tackle, all with two or more years of eligiblity remaining.

In his statement, Sellers said he will transfer to Northwest Mississippi Community College. He can play one season and then transfer back to a four-year college and have two years of eligibility. In his statement on his Twitter account, Sellers thanked Tech coaches for the opportunity and teammates and support staff.

Unfortunately, he said, “I no longer feel like Tech is the place for me.”

Sellers, from Sandy Creek High, follows linebacker Emanuel Bridges, B-back Marcus Marshall, wide receiver Christian Philpott and cornerback Dorian Walker in transferring since the end of the regular season.
