Georgia practiced for two hours on Friday on the expansive campus of Charlotte Country Day School, a prestigious private school in the Charlotte suburbs southeast of downtown.
It was the Bulldogs’ second day of practice since arriving in town for the Belk Bowl on Christmas Eve and their sixth overall. All of them have been in full pads. They will practice Saturday and Sunday before taking off Monday, the day before the 6:30 p.m. bowl on Tuesday.
After the afternoon practice, conducted in mild temperatures under blue skies, the players were headed to one of the Charlotte Belk locations for a $450 shopping spree that included 20 percent off all merchandise.
Junior tackle John Theus, for one, had scouted the retail store’s website ahead of time and was going in with a game plan.
“I don’t know how much time we’ll have there but I’m gonna try to get a little bang for my buck,” Theus said. “It’s like a second Christmas.”
