While it’s not the poll that matters the most, Georgia jumped to No. 5 in the Associated Press Top 25 college football poll released Sunday. Georgia is also No. 5 in the Coaches poll.
Georgia moved up a spot after a convincing 34-17 win over Kentucky on Saturday to clinch the SEC East title and a date in the conference title game next month.
Alabama, who will face Georgia in the SEC title game on Dec. 1 after clinching the West title, remains No. 1 with all 60 first-place votes.
Georgia was No. 6 in the initial College Football Playoff poll released last week. The new poll to determine the four playoff teams will be released Tuesday night.
Georgia hosts Auburn on Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
