Chipper Jones’ 1999 MVP award on display in Cooperstown

Chipper Jones, the Braves first overall pick in the 1990 draft, spend two decades with the team in Atlanta, batting at .303 with 2,726 hits and 468 homers. (He is he only switch hitter in baseball with a career average above .300 and 400 home runs.) The eight-time All-Star was named league MVP in 1999 and was league batting champion in 2008. He was inducted into the Braves Hall of Fame in 2013.

Former Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones’ National Leagye Most Valuable Player award from the 1999 season is one of many items on display in Cooperstown in The 2018 Inductees Exhibit.

The exhibit includes a variety of items from the playing careers of the 2018 inductees into the Hall of Fame including items by Jones, Vladimir Guerrero, Trevor Hoffman, Jack Morris, Jim Thome and Alan Trammell.

In addition to Jones’ MVP trophy, the exhibit will also include Guerrero’s Home Run Derby Champion from the 2007 All-Star Game, Thome’s game-worn helmet from when he hit his 600th career home run in 2011.

The 2018 Inductees Exhibit, which is included with tickets to the Hall of Fame Museum, will remain open through May 2019.

The 2018 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be on July 29 at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown at 1:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on MLB Network.
