Player ratings for Atlanta United following Saturday’s MLS game against Chicago:

Goalkeeper Alec Kann, 6: Did well to break up two Chicago counter-attacks. … Finished with four saves. … Really wasn't helped by the defense, which frequently was caught in counter-attacks.

Right fullback Tyrone Mears, 4: Started as one of his better games and turned into one of his worst. … Two good crosses early in the first half. … Another good one in the 52nd minute that Julian Gressel couldn't get reach. … Whiffed on a pass in the 57th minute that led to a counter-attack. … Whistled for a handball in the 69th minute that led to a penalty kick and Chciago's second goal.

Centerhalf Michael Parkhurst, 5: Dispossed more than halfway down the field in the beginning of a sequence that resulted in Chicago's first goal. … He and Leandro Gonzalez Pirez had all sorts of issues trying to handle Chicago's long balls and counter-attacks. … Finished with three tackles.

Centerhalf Leandro Gonzalez Pirez, 5: Chased down Nemanja Nikolic to stop a third goal, but overall just a forgetable day.

Left fullback Greg Garza, 6: Like everyone else on the team, just a day filled with not much. Led the team with 85 touches.

Holding midfielder Carlos Carmona, 7: Played much higher up the field than he has at any point this season in a tactic the team used to try to pin back Chicago. … Created a team-high three chances.

Holding midfielder Jeff Larentowicz, 5: Not much to report. … No tackles, two fouls won. Chicago frequently went over the midfielders.

Right midfielder Julian Gressel, 5: Perhaps his quietest game of the season after a series of strong ones. … Completed 68 percent of his passes.

Attacking midfielder Kevin Kratz, 6: Mostly quiet in the first half until he unleashed a long-range shot that sailed past the post. … Received a yellow card in the 39th minute. … Great free kick in the 45th minute, but not Atlanta United player could reach it. … Won three fouls in the first half, two in dangerous spots. …

Left midfielder Yamil Asad, 5: A really, really quiet day for Asad for the second consecutive week.

Striker Hector Villalba, 4: Failed to put away a one-on-one with the goalie in the 13th minute. … missed another in the 28th minute. … Couldn't get his head on a great free kick by Kratz just before halftime. … Should get credit for getting into good positions, but the point is to score.
