Rating how Atlanta United’s players performed in Sunday’s game against Minnesota United at TCF Bank Stadium.

The rating system is 0-10, with 0 representing a meltdown and 10 representing a career-definining performance. These are meant to be used as conversation.

Goalkeeper: Alec Kann, 6. Kann was solid on corner kicks and used his leg to stop a one-on-one opportunity in the 45th minute. He was slow to get up after that collision, but continued on. Kann made another series of saves two minutes later on another corner.

Fullback: Tyrone Mears, 5. A quietly effective game. Didn't get too many chances to bomb forward.

Centerhalf: Leandro Pires, 6. He was physical in the back, putting some grit in Atlanta United's defense. He also picked up his second yellow card in the first half in just his second game.

Centerhalf: Michael Parkhurst (captain), 6. Playing in shortsleeves (?!?!?), he threw himself on the ground many times to block shots.

Fullback: Greg Garza, 6. A solid, albeit quiet, game for the left fullback. Each of Atlanta United's goals happened so quickly neither fullback had a chance to get involved. He got into action with a nice chip to Jacob Peterson for the final goal.

Midfielder: Jeff Larentowicz, 5. His poor tackle in the first half resulted in a penalty kick and Minnesota United's first goal.

Midfielder: Julian Gressel, 6. His pass to Almiron on the second goal split Minnesota United's midfielders and defenders. Otherwise, a solid game for the rookie.

Midfielder: Hector Villalba, 6. More effective in this game than the previous. He notched his first assist on Martinez's third goal.

Midfielder: Miguel Almiron, 8. He was all over the field, scoring two goals and creating numerous chances.

Midfielder: Yamil Asad, 6. Had an assist and did the work necessary on the left side.

Striker: Josef Martinez, 9. His first hat trick and the first in team history.
