The San Diego Padres snapped the Braves’ three-game winning streak Friday night in front of a sold-out SunTrust Park. The visitors went up 7-3 after scoring five runs in the seventh inning and tacked on two more in the ninth to bring up the final 9-3 score.

Manager Brian Snitker on if unfortunate calls and errors came down to bad luck:

“More than anything, I think. It was just one of those nights. There was a series of things that just didn’t go our way.”

On the bullpen struggling in the seventh inning:

“We walked too many guys in that inning, pretty much. I thought ‘(Sam Freeman)’s going to get out of it.’ He made a good pitch, got the double play and then had a guy to put away and just hung a split. He threw some good ones in that count. Got by with one to get to strike two and then if he gets ahold and gets all of it, he probably gets a swing and a miss, and we get out of the inning. It just didn’t happen.”

On the reversed call on Dansby Swanson’s ninth-inning play:

“They thought they saw him miss the bag, which he did, and I think they forgot to keep watching the play. That’s neither here nor there. That didn’t beat us.”

Shortstop Dansby Swanson on if he hit second base on the overturned out:

“Yeah, I did. Plain and simple. I knew I hit it. Sometimes that’s just how it goes.”

Starter Brandon McCarthy on his outing:

“I thought I could’ve been better overall. First inning I wanted to make sure I kept us in it and get as deep as I could. It was a disappointing start again, but I was happy I was at least able to get us stretched out a little deeper and not give up any more.”

On what, if anything, changed after first inning:

“Nobody else hit a home run. It was really, I haven’t gone back and looked, but we thought that pitch was off or he just went and got it. So you just go back, settle in and make your pitches and hopefully certain things go back in your way. We got into a pretty good groove. Execute a little bit. They got some hits, found some holes and everything, but we were looking to stay and top and at least fight through.”
