Grant Hill, Hawks co-owner and vice chairman of the board of directors, will be one of seven new members enshrined into Duke’s Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2016, the school announced Tuesday.

Hill, the former Blue Devils basketball player, will be inducted Sept. 9 at Cameron Indoor Stadium. He will be joined by Shane Battier (basketball), Dan Brooks (coach), Mary Dinkins (administration), Ed Meadows (football), Virada Nirapathpongporn (golf) and Kelly Walbert Cagle (soccer). The group also will be honored the following day during halftime of Duke’s football game against Wake Forest.

“I’m both honored and thrilled to join such rarefied air as a new member of the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame,” Hill told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

There are 131 members in the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame, dating to the inaugural ceremony in 1975. Voting is conducted by the Hall’s enshrinees along with members of the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame committee.

Hill played at Duke from 1990-94 and was part of two NCAA national championship teams. He was a two-time All-American and was named the ACC Player of the Year in 1994.
